Mechanical Engineer

Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer located in Tulsa, OK. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including mechanical design, rapid prototyping, and generating CAD/3D models. The role involves managing projects from conception through completion and participating in research and development activities to advance our propulsion technologies. A background in nanotechnology and propulsion systems desirable.

Qualifications

  • A B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Machine Design skills

  • Proficiency in 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD)

  • Experience in Project Management

  • Laboratory Experience Helpful

  • Engagement in Research and Development (R&D)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced atmosphere

Electrical Engineer

Material Science Engineer

Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, part-time Materials Science Engineer located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a strong background in carbon nanomaterials—including carbon aerogels, nanotubes, graphene, or related systems—to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, synthesis, characterization, and integration of nanostructured carbon materials for high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize carbon nanomaterial synthesis processes (e.g., sol-gel, CVD, or templating methods).

  • Characterize materials using analytical techniques such as SEM, TEM, BET, Raman, XRD, and XPS.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the integration of carbon nanostructures into devices and systems.

  • Model structure–property relationships to guide materials design and scale-up.

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Contribute to proposal writing and intellectual property development.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related discipline.

  • Hands-on experience with carbon-based nanomaterials (e.g., CNTs, graphene, carbon aerogels, nanofibers).

  • Proficiency in materials synthesis, surface modification, and microstructural analysis.

  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, plasma processes, or thin-film deposition is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in electronic, electrochemical, or propulsion applications of nanomaterials.

  • Experience with scale-up processes or technology transition from lab to production.

  • Prior involvement in government- or industry-sponsored R&D programs.

  • An understanding of GSFC-STD-7000 amd NASA TRL/NPR 7120.5F is helpful
